Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarize: to steal and pass off (the idea or words of another) as one’s own: use (another's production) without crediting the source

 

Plagiarism: to commit literary theft: present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source

CONSEQUENCES:

1st OFFENCE

    This will be resolved between the student and the teacher and it will be an opportunity to educate and inform students. Administration and parents will be notified and the student will be assigned an “N” for effort. (For significant offences, the teacher may bypass this step and take the student directly to the 2nd Offence consequence.)

2nd OFFENCE

    Students will be referred to administration and suspended from their course. They will be required to do a read and respond plagiarism assignment. The student will only be allowed back into his/her course once this assignment has been completed to the satisfaction of administration. Parents will be notified and informed that if there are any subsequent instances of plagiarism the student will be suspended from all @KOOL courses and referred to the Superintendent’s Office.

3rd OFFENCE

    Referral to Superintendent’s Office and suspension from all @KOOL courses.
